In 2005, China's Ministry of Commerce announced the expiry of anti-dumping measures offering protection to various Chinese domestic industries from imported products being 'dumped' onto the local market. Given that domestic industries actively participate in 'sunset' reviews to extend the application of the measures, it would be practical for foreign producers and exporters to become familiar with the procedural and substantive elements of the sunset review process in China.

After twenty years in the making, numerous drafts and countless deliberations, China is on the verge of releasing its first unified Anti-Monopoly Law. Will it live up to expectations?

A recent report from the State Administration of Commerce has highlighted the government's ongoing concern with monopoly practices by big foreign companies in China, and gives some information about the content of the pending PRC Anti-monopoly Law.

Although the government hasn't yet issued an overarching antitrust law, there are numerous regulations governing monopolies, price fixing and unfair commercial practices. The latest is a new anti-price monopoly law issued by the State Development Reform Commission.
