Main contents: The Measures are revised to perform the obligations under the Convention Abolishing the Requirement of Legalization for Foreign Public Documents acceded to by the PRC.
A foreign national who is entitled to receive monthly social insurance benefits outside of mainland China shall have his/her eligibility for receiving such benefits verified once per year. Verification of eligibility for benefits may be done by providing to the social insurance office responsible for paying his/her benefits a certificate of existence issued by the Chinese embassy or consulate, a notarized/certified certificate of existence from the relevant authority in his/her country of residence certified by the Chinese embassy or consulate or, alternatively, he/she may handle the same himself/herself over the internet in accordance with provisions. Where an international treaty concluded or acceded to by the PRC provides otherwise, matters shall be handled by way of the certification procedures specified in the treaty.
