China lifts foreign investment restrictions on value-added telecommunications services

Main contents: The pilot project will first be launched in the Beijing Comprehensive Demonstration Zone for the Expansion and Opening Up of Service Industries, Lingang Special Area of the Shanghai Pilot Free Trade Zone and Pioneer Area for Socialist Modernization, Hainan Free Trade Port and the Shenzhen Pilot Demonstration Zone of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics (Article 1).

In the areas where the launch of the pilot project is approved, the limit on the equity percentage held by foreign investors in Internet data centers (IDC), content distribution networks (CDN), internet service providers (ISP), online data processing and transaction processing and, in information services, information dissemination platforms and delivery services (with the exception of internet news information, online publishing, online audiovisuals and internet cultural operations) and information protection and processing services is abolished (Article 2).
