Shanghai Proposes New Cross-Border Data Flow Rules

The Shanghai government is proposing the implementation of a three-tiered cross-border data flow regime in the Lingang Special Area within the Shanghai Free Trade Zone, according to the South China Morning Post (SCMP).

Foreign firms such as U.S. electric car manufacturer Tesla and German carmaker Porsche's China subsidiary arm have contributed to the proposals, which are expected to be put in place by March of this year.
