Main contents: The lawyer service fee rates formulated by a law firm shall be filed annually for the record with the lawyers association of the city divided into districts or district (county) of the municipality directly under the central government where the firm is located. Once on record, the same may not, in principle, be modified for one year (Article 2).

Where a law firm provides for a contingency fee with a party, the fee may be charged at a fixed amount or, alternatively, at a certain percentage of the amount of the claim ultimately realized or the amount by which the debt is exempted or reduced (the Subject Amount). The maximum amount of the lawyer service fees that a law firm charges in total for all the stages of representation on a contingency basis shall comply with the following provisions: for the portion of the Subject Amount less than RMB 1 million, may not exceed 18% of the Subject Amount; for the portion of the Subject Amount of at least RMB 1 million but less than RMB 5 million, may not exceed 15% of the Subject Amount; for the portion of the Subject Amount of at least RMB 5 million but less than RMB 10 million, may not exceed 12% of the Subject Amount; for the portion of the Subject Amount of at least RMB 10 million but less than RMB 50 million, may not exceed 9% of the Subject Amount; and for the portion of the Subject Amount of at least or more than RMB 50 million, may not exceed 6% of the Subject Amount (Article 6).
