CBIRC defines affiliated transactions of banks and insurance companies

Issued: June 21, 2021

Main contents: The balance of the credit extended by a banking institution to an affiliated party may not exceed 10% of the banking institution's net capital as at the end of the previous quarter. The total balance of the credit extended by a banking institution to a group client of which an affiliated legal person or unincorporated organization is a member may not exceed 15% of the banking institution's net capital as at the end of the previous quarter. The balance of the credit extended by a banking institution to all affiliated parties may not exceed 50% of the banking institution's net capital as at the end of the previous quarter (Article 16).

The book balance of the investments by an insurance institution in all affiliated parties may not, in total, exceed 25% of the insurance institution's total assets as at the end of the previous year or its net assets as at the end of the previous year, whichever is less (Article 20).
