MEE releases carbon trading rules ahead of national launch

China has released detailed rules surrounding registration, trading, and settlement activities ahead of the national carbon trading market launch. On May 19, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment (MEE) released three regulations that came into immediate effect: Rules for the Administration of Registration of Carbon Emissions Rights (Trial Implementation) (碳排放权登记管理规则(试行)), Rules for the Administration of the Trading of Carbon Emissions Rights (Trial Implementation) (碳排放权交易管理规则(试行)), and Rules for the Administration of Settlement Relating to Carbon Emissions Rights (Trial Implementation)(碳排放权结算管理规则(试行)).
