2020 was a tough year for everyone due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite this hardship, business activities continued, reviving first in China where the economy was able to return to something close to normal with the effective containment of the domestic outbreak.
With restricted human interaction, the New Economy seemed to be the main theme of 2020. We saw the dominant role of the New Economy in major legal developments and activities in China, especially amid the U.S.-China rivalry, which concerns the platform economy, technology transactions, Fintech, data privacy and the secondary listings of Chinese tech companies.
