China passes new biosecurity law amid COVID-19 pandemic
China has passed the PRC Biosecurity Law (中华人民共和国生物安全法), which frames biosecurity as a key component of national security. On Oct. 17, the 13th National People's Congress Standing Committee (NPCSC) adopted seven bills, including the biosecurity law. It will take effect on April 15, 2021.
