Susan MokThe State Council has announced six new free trade zones and the penalty for import of a small amount of unauthorized pharmaceuticals may be exempted.
Free Trade Zones
State Council, General Plan for the China (Shandong) Pilot Free Trade Zone
The Shandong Pilot Free Trade Zone will explore regional economic cooperation among China, Japan and South Korea. It will establish the high standard Sino-ROK (Yantai) Industrial Park and create the "two countries, two parks" cooperation model.
State Council, General Plan for the China (Jiangsu) Pilot Free Trade Zone
The Jiangsu Pilot Free Trade Zone proposes to enhance the level of overseas investment cooperation, strengthen the support of finance for the real economy and support the innovative development of manufacturing.
State Council, General Plan for the China (Guangxi) Pilot Free Trade Zone
The Guangxi Pilot Free Trade Zone proposes to create a freely flowing international channel and to support the opening and increasing frequency of Beibu Gulf international marine shipping routes.
State Council, General Plan for the China (Hebei) Pilot Free Trade Zone
The Hebei Pilot Free Trade Zone proposes to support the engagement in international bulk commodity trading and support the open development of the biopharmaceutical and the life and health industries.
State Council, General Plan for the China (Yunnan) Pilot Free Trade Zone
The Yunnan Pilot Free Trade Zone proposes the creation of an innovative frontier and cross-border economic cooperation model. It will also intensify international cooperation in the science and technology field.
State Council, General Plan for the China (Heilongjiang) Pilot Free Trade Zone
The Heilongjiang Pilot Free Trade Zone will construct a transport and logistics hub oriented toward Russia and northeast Asia.

Where a small quantity of a pharmaceutical lawfully sold on the market abroad is imported without approval and the circumstances are relatively insignificant, the penalty may be reduced or exempted in accordance with the law.
