IP litigation often requires the use of extreme and urgent measures due to unquantifiable and irreparable damages as a result of patent infringement (or patent misuse).
It is understood worldwide that patent protection should be obtained quickly and any delay in preventing or stopping patent infringement can result in massive costs for the owner. The best methods for solving an infringement situation are therefore definitely inconsistent with the normal delays of infringement proceedings.
One of the quickest means of preventing or stopping (at least temporarily) infringements is interim injunctions, which have the ability to prevent the offender from continuing its activities while pending the full trial of the matter.
