Shanghai Municipality, Circular on Revising the Minimum Wage Rates in the Municipality

Main contents: The minimum monthly wage rate is increased from Rmb1,280 to Rmb1,450. The following items do not form part of the minimum monthly wage and employers shall pay the same separately in accordance with provisions:
(1) wages for overtime work;
(2) allowances for work under special working environments and conditions, such as swing shift, night shift, high temperatures, low temperatures, mine shafts and toxic/hazardous conditions;
(3) social insurance premiums and contributions to the housing fund paid by the individual in accordance with the law; and
(4) meal allowances, transport allowances and housing allowances (Article 1).
The hourly minimum wage rate is increased from Rmb11 to Rmb12.50. The hourly minimum wage does not include social insurance premiums paid by the individual and the employer in accordance with the law. The relevant social insurance premiums shall be paid separately by the employer in accordance with provisions (Article 2).
