Carlsberg Group (Carlsberg) has acquired an additional shareholding in Chongqing Brewery Company (CBC). Denmark-based Carlsberg raised its stake in CBC to 29.71% from 17.46%, making it the largest shareholder.
The purchaser paid Rmb2.385 billion (US$349 million) for the additional 12.25% stake. All the required approvals from regulators has been received.
CBC operates 16 breweries in Chongqing, Sichuan, Hunan, Anhui and Zhejiang.
Carlsberg was represented by a Gide Loyrette Nouel team led by Beijing partner, Warren Hua. Its PRC counsel was Haiwen Law Firm. The seller was advised by Chongqing Tianyuan Law Firm.
