Main contents: The Decision puts forth the acceleration of the fostering and development of the following new strategic industries:
(1) energy conservation and environmentally-friendly industry, including key generic technology for recycle of resources, recycle of discarded commodities, clean use of coal and comprehensive utilisation of sea water;
(2) next-generation information technology industry, including next-generation mobile communication, and core equipment and intelligent terminals for the next-generation Internet;
(3) biological industry, including biotechnological pharmaceuticals, new vaccines and diagnostic reagents, chemical pharmaceuticals and modern Chinese medicines;
(4) high-end equipment manufacturing industry, including aviation equipment, rail transport equipment and marine engineering equipment;
(5) alternative energy industry, including nuclear energy, solar thermal technology, wind power and biomass energy;
(6) new materials industry, including rare earth functional materials, high performance film materials, special types of glass, functional ceramics, semi-conductor lighting materials, high-quality special steel, new alloys, engineering plastics, carbon fibres, aramid fibres, ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene, materials that are nanometre in size, super-conducting and intelligent; and
(7) alternative energy automotive industry, such as plug-in hybrid automobiles, electric automobiles, and fuel cell automobiles (Article 3).
