China's top prosecution agency plans to pay up to Rmb200,000 (US$29,000) for providing information which leads to exposure of corruption. The agency will also provide more protection to whistleblowers.

The China Daily reported recently that those who provide useful tip-offs will be entitled to “10% of the value of the properties that are expropriated in graft cases”. If the case is particularly significant, a higher payout could be awarded with the approval of the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP).

Details of the payouts were given in a work report issued by the SPP on May 5. In the report, the agency also described new revisions to its 1996 regulations covering procedures for filing accusations against officials, and increasing protection and confidentiality for complainants.
