Intellectual property no longer restricts itself to acquiring registration of a particular right. This regime of law has moved beyond restrictive borders to incorporate active mechanisms that find a place in other regimes of law as well. Intellectual property enforcement, which is the need of any IP-conscious jurisdiction, is increasingly keeping the Indian intellectual property scenario engaged.

The owners of intellectual property in India are indeed taking pro-active steps to protect their rights. With industries such as the software and music industry being most threatened by piracy, owners of intellectual property are taking steps to protect their assets – tangible as well as intangible. Not merely are they undertaking registration for the respective regimes, but they are also keeping a keen eye on their products, marks and allied subjects of ownership.
