Interpreting Authority: General Administration of Press and Publication
Applicability: The Guidelines shall apply to periodicals with China Standard Serial Numbers (CN).
Main Contents: The Guidelines set forth provisions on China Standard Serial Numbers, International Standard Serial Numbers, bar codes, advertising, principal responsible work units, printing and distribution work units, the chief editor, publication indicators, the copyright page and descriptive wordings of periodicals.
The Guidelines also state that the foreign language name of a periodical must be the literal translation of the Chinese periodical name (Article 5.1.3). The cover of a foreign language periodical must also carry the Chinese periodical name (Article 5.1.4).
