On October 28 2002, the Shanghai Municipal People's Congress amended the Shanghai Municipality, Protecting the Interests of Consumers Regulations (the Regulations). The Regulations will enter into effect on January 1 2003. The implementation of the Regulations will have a significant impact on current marketing and sales practices in Shanghai.
