Effective: as of date of promulgation
Interpreting authority: General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine
Applicability: For the purposes of the Procedures, "Chinese well-known brand name products" refers to the Chinese made products that are of international advanced quality, leaders of similar products in the domestic market in terms of market share, popularity, customer satisfaction and competitiveness and recognized as such by the China Committee for the Strategic Promotion of Well-known Brand Names (Article 2).
Main contents: The Procedures provide that the China Committee for the Strategic Promotion of Well-known Brand Names, an organization comprised of various relevant national organizations, government departments, news media and experts, shall organize and implement the evaluation and administration of Chinese well-known brand name products (Article 3). Enterprises may apply for recognition of their brand names at the annual evaluation session of the committee (Article 13). Products recognized as Chinese well-known brand name products will be certified and announced by the committee (Article 21). Such certificates are valid for three years and all commercial promotion of the certified products must specify the validity period of the certificates (Article 22). Certified products may carry the Chinese well-known brand name product logo specified by the committee and are exempt from various kinds of quality inspection pursuant to the Administration of the Exemption of Products from Quality-control Inspection Procedures during the validity period of their certificates (Articles 23 and 24). However, certificates of Chinese well-known brand name products may be suspended or revoked if the certified products experience significant instability in quality, are subject of strong customer complaints, are involved in major quality-related accidents or the manufacturer's quality control system experiences a major failure (Article 27).
