Applicability: For the purposes of these Measures, "wine" means the alcoholic drink produced the fermentation and aging of fresh grapes or grape juice. Its quality shall comply with GB/T15037-94. Alcoholic drinks produced from or in combination with other fruit or without fermentation or with water added shall not be called "wine" (Article 3).
Main contents: In addition to a detailed definition of "wine", the Measures specify the types of grapes that shall be selected on priority basis for wine production (Article 5). With regard to the production process, the Measures contain a number of provisions setting out what chemical manipulation is allowed and its limits (Part Three). In respect of labelling, the Measures provide that in addition to what is required by law for alcoholic drinks, wine labels may indicate the vintage year, type of grape, grape source and product grade (Article 18). The Measures also have some provisions concerning the storage and transportation of wine (Part Five).
